ABOUT LISA BROWNING
With over twenty years of experience in all aspects of matrimonial law, I am here to help you through some of the most challenging times of your life with kindness, compassion, and expertise.
AREAS OF EXPERTISE
MEDIATION
Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution in which a neutral third party helps two or more people resolve a dispute. It gives everyone a chance to be heard, using specialized communication techniques that keep conversations productive rather than adversarial. Unlike a judge, a mediator does not decide the outcome. Instead, the mediator guides the discussion so the parties can reach an agreement of their own.
Lisa Browning is a trained mediator with over 20 years of experience. Her goal is to promote positive communication and help you reach a solution that reflects the goals, needs, rights, and interests of everyone involved. Mediation is confidential, generally faster and less costly than litigation, and gives you far greater control over the result.
COLLABORATIVE
DIVORCE
Collaborative divorce is a legal process that allows couples who have decided to end their marriage avoid the uncertainty of court. Rather than leaving major decisions up to a judge, you and your spouse commit to working together, with the support of your attorneys, to reach a fair settlement that meets the needs of both parties and their children.
The process can be used for a broad range of family law matters. Open communication, full financial disclosure, and respect for each person’s goals are central to the approach, which often leads to a faster, more private, and less adversarial outcome.
Unlike mediation, where a neutral mediator helps the parties reach agreement and each spouse may or may not have an attorney at the table, collaborative divorce places both spouses and their own attorneys in the room together, all committed in writing to resolving the matter without litigation. Often a divorce will help you navigate the process, and a financial neutral expert can be involved as well.
SETTLEMENT OUT
OF COURT
Settling out of court can be the best option for your divorce, saving you time, money, heartache, and frustration. Going to court is a stressful, unpredictable process. A settlement allows both parties to resolve their disputes on their own terms and put the outcome in a legally binding contract known as a Matrimonial Settlement Agreement.
Through negotiation and the help of an attorney, you and your spouse can work out the details of property division (both assets ad debts), alimony, child support, and parenting time in a way that reflects your family’s real needs rather than leaving those decisions to a judge. Settlement also keeps your personal matters private, gives you greater control over the result, and often leads to a faster, more amicable resolution. Lisa Browning Law, LLC will guide you through each step and make sure your agreement is thorough, fair, and enforceable.
POST JUDGMENT
MEDIATION & COLLABORATIVE DIVORCE
After a divorce or family law matter is complete, life keeps moving, and circumstances change. A new job, a relocation, a change in income, or the evolving needs of your children can raise issues that call for legal involvement again. These post-judgment matters do not have to mean a trip to the courtroom.
Many can be resolved out of court through mediation or the collaborative process, which allow you to work toward practical, lasting solutions in a respectful and confidential setting. This approach often saves time, reduces cost and stress, and helps preserve important relationships, especially when children are involved. Lisa Browning Law, LLC is here to guide you through each step and help you reach a resolution on your terms.
PRENUPTIAL
AGREEMENTS
No one expects their marriage to fail, but with the right guidance, you can plan for the unexpected. A prenuptial agreement is not a sign of distrust. It is a practical, forward-looking conversation that gives both partners clarity and peace of mind before they marry. Lisa Browning will help you create a personalized, legally valid agreement that protects your assets, your interests, and your future.
Whether you own a business or real estate, expect an inheritance, have children from a prior relationship, or carry significant debt, a well-drafted agreement can address how property, income, and obligations will be handled if the marriage ends. Each agreement is tailored to your circumstances and drafted to meet New Jersey’s legal requirements, including full and fair financial disclosure.
Hear Lisa discuss the benefits of Collaborative Divorce.
"Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often a real loser — in fees, expenses, and waste of time. As a peacemaker, the lawyer has a superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be business enough."
